Discover the natural beauty and wildlife diversity of southwestern Uganda on this 4-day safari experience. This journey takes you through three remarkable destinations—Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Lake Bunyonyi, and Lake Mburo National Park—offering a blend of primate encounters, scenic landscapes, and wildlife viewing.

Your adventure begins with gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to observe mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. You will spend an hour in close proximity to a gorilla family—an encounter that offers deep insight into the behavior of these gentle giants.

From Bwindi, you continue to Lake Bunyonyi, Africa’s second deepest lake, known for its stunning beauty and rich cultural history. A boat cruise across the lake reveals some of its 29 islands, each with a unique story. You’ll visit selected islands to learn about local traditions and the significance of these locations.

The safari concludes at Lake Mburo National Park, a haven for plains wildlife and bird species. Enjoy game drives across the savannah, with chances to spot zebras, impalas, buffaloes, and more. The park also offers optional activities like guided nature walks and horseback riding, providing a closer look at the ecosystem.

Safari Activities

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

Hike through lush forest trails with an expert guide in search of a habituated gorilla group. Once located, you will spend one hour observing them as they feed, groom, and interact in their natural surroundings. The terrain is steep and dense but offers a truly rare wildlife experience.

Boat Excursion on Lake Bunyonyi

Glide across the calm waters of Lake Bunyonyi in a dugout canoe or motorized boat. Visit notable islands like Punishment Island and learn about the cultural history of the Bakiga people. The lake’s cool air and scenic hills create the perfect setting for relaxation and photography.

Game Drive in Lake Mburo National Park

Venture into Uganda’s smallest savannah park on a morning or evening drive to spot wildlife such as zebras, buffaloes, waterbucks, and topis. The park is also home to more than 300 bird species, making it ideal for birding enthusiasts.

Optional Horseback Riding Safari

For a unique game-viewing experience, explore Lake Mburo on horseback—getting closer to animals without the noise of an engine, and following trails inaccessible by vehicle.

Guided Nature Walks

Accompanied by an armed ranger, walk through the park’s rolling savannah and woodland areas to encounter wildlife up close and learn about animal tracks, plants, and ecosystems.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : Pick up from Entebbe to Bwindi National Park

The Safari will begin with a pick-up from Entebbe International Airport and immediately transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey takes about 8-9 hours drive including stopovers for scenery viewing. Arrive and check in the booked hotel.

Day 2. Gorilla trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Wake up and head to the park offices for briefing which will include guidelines to follow while trekking, cross-checking gorilla trekking permits, assignment of the park ranger, allocation into a group of fellow trekkers, hiring porters and more. Trekking will begin with the help of the park ranger and porters. On locating the gorilla family, spend an hour learning their behaviours as you follow them. Expect to meet other attractions like olive baboons, red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys and more. After, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi the second deepest lake in Africa located far Southwestern part of the pearl of Africa. Head to the resort hotel and the day will end with dinner. Lodge: Bunyonyi Rock Resort In the afternoon after the game we shall have a boat cruise on the Nile to enjoy the magical Murchison Falls and the crocodiles at the bottom of the falls. Then drive back to the lodge.

Day 3. Boat cruise and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Take a boat cruise to visit some of the Islands in Lake Bunyonyi and the ones which won't be missed are Leprosy Island, punishment Island, bwama Island and more. They make a drive to one of the hills to enjoy the beautiful view of the lake that is dotted with islands. Later on, transferred to Lake Mburo National Park the smallest savannah National Park in Uganda though with unique wildlife species like the impala, zebras, elands and more. Arrive and head to the lodge for your dinner and overnight stay. Lodge: Rwakobo Rock Lodge

Day 4. Game drive and head back to Entebbe

Have a morning game drive in the park when you expect to meet animals like impalas, Zebras, Elands, Buffalos, Oribis, Hyenas, Topis, Waterbucks, Leopards, Warthogs and more. This experience can last for 2 to 3 hours. Have optional activities like boat cruises, sport biking, horseback riding, nature walks and more. Later on, head back to Entebbe with a route stopover at the Uganda equator for lunch, photos and experiment. Be dropped at Entebbe International Airport to mark the end of your 4 Days Safari.
