June to September – Peak Dry Season (Best Overall Time)

Why go now? This is the most popular and recommended time for gorilla trekking and wildlife viewing.
Weather: Clear skies, minimal rain, and pleasant temperatures.

December to February – Short Dry Season

March to May & October to November – Rainy Seasons (Low Season)

Before embarking on your unforgettable journey to Rwanda – The Land of a Thousand Hills, it’s important to ensure your passport and visa requirements are in order. This guide provides comprehensive information to help you prepare for a smooth and hassle-free entry into the country.

Passport Requirements

All travelers visiting Rwanda must possess a valid passport that meets the following conditions:

Must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond your intended departure date from Rwanda.
Should have at least one or two blank pages available for entry and exit stamps.
Must be presented in good condition—damaged or expired passports may result in denied entry.

If you’re traveling with children, each child must also have their own passport.

Visa Requirements for Rwanda

Rwanda offers several convenient visa options depending on your nationality, purpose of travel, and length of stay.

Visa on Arrival (for All Nationalities)

Rwanda has a liberal visa policy, and as of recent updates, nationals of all countries can obtain a visa on arrival at any entry point (airport or border crossing).
