Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest National Park

Kibale Forest National Park is regarded as the primate capital of East Africa and is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees. During your guided trek, experienced Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers lead you through the tropical rainforest in search of habituated chimpanzee families.

Besides chimpanzees, you may encounter black-and-white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, olive baboons, colourful butterflies, reptiles, and a remarkable variety of birdlife.

Once the chimpanzees are located, you’ll spend one unforgettable hour observing their behaviour as they feed, communicate, groom one another, and swing effortlessly through the forest canopy.

Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary Walk

The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is one of Uganda’s premier community tourism projects. This guided nature walk offers exceptional opportunities to spot monkeys, butterflies, reptiles, and more than 200 bird species, including the magnificent Great Blue Turaco.

Meet the indigenous Batwa people, the original forest inhabitants of Bwindi. Learn about their ancient hunting techniques, traditional medicines, cultural dances, storytelling, music, and their unique relationship with the rainforest before it became a protected national park.

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

The highlight of your safari is undoubtedly mountain gorilla trekking.

Following an early morning briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, you’ll venture into the ancient rainforest in search of one of Bwindi’s habituated gorilla families.

The trek may take between 2 and 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Once found, you’ll spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants as they interact, feed, groom, and care for their young.

This is considered one of Africa’s greatest wildlife experiences and often becomes the most memorable moment of any Uganda safari.

Lake Bunyonyi Relaxation

After your gorilla adventure, unwind at the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi, one of Africa’s deepest lakes. Surrounded by terraced hills and dotted with numerous islands, it provides a peaceful setting to relax before your journey back to Entebbe.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park

Your safari begins after breakfast when your professional guide from Engeya Tours and Travel picks you up from your hotel or Entebbe International Airport.

Enjoy a scenic drive through Uganda's countryside, passing tea plantations, traditional villages, rolling hills, and beautiful crater lakes before arriving in Kibale Forest National Park.

In the afternoon, enjoy a guided walk around the crater lakes and the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for birdwatching and primate viewing.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

In the afternoon, enjoy a memorable boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, famous for its large concentration of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and water birds.

After spending one magical hour with the gorillas, receive your trekking certificate before departing for Lake Bunyonyi.
